Ballina Coast Dental is committed to offering modern dental technology and techniques to ensure our patients receive the most comfortable and effective dentistry possible. We invite you to learn more about our innovative technology at our Ballina dental practice.

Panoramic X-Rays

Panoramic X-Rays (OPG)

A panoramic x-ray is a two-dimensional dental x-ray that captures a flat, detailed image of the entire mouth, including teeth, jaws, maxillary sinuses and surrounding tissues. A panoramic x-ray helps the dentist diagnose and treat oral health conditions and is perhaps one of the most commonly used forms of medical imaging. At Ballina Coast Dental, we use panoramic x-rays for:

  • Evaluating tooth development and eruption patterns
  • Orthodontics
  • Wisdom tooth position
  • Dental implant planning
  • Oral surgery diagnosis
  • Screening for pathologies, such as cysts or tumours
  • Evaluating bone density
  • Managing TMJ disorder

Our dental team usually takes panoramic x-rays every three to five years, from adolescence through adulthood.

nitrous oxide

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as 'happy gas' or 'laughing gas', is a colourless, odourless gas used for mild conscious sedation. Nitrous oxide provides pain relief and a calming effect, so you can have a more relaxing appointment. We also use nitrous oxide to alleviate dental anxiety and relieve pain for minor dental treatments.

digital impressions

Digital Impressions

At Ballina Coast Dental, we use digital impressions to create a virtual, computer-generated model of a patient’s mouth, including all soft and hard tissues. The digital model allows us to view a patient’s mouth using a computer rather than look at an x-ray, using a mirror or taking a traditional mould. After we take a digital impression, we can immediately view it in detail and send it to our local Australian lab partners for quick and accurate restorations.

Same-Day CEREC

Same-Day CEREC® Dental Crowns

Same-day CEREC dental crowns are highly efficient and technologically advanced restorations preferred by countless patients. CEREC stands for ‘Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic’, which means we can design, fabricate and place them in a single dental appointment.

Unlike a traditional crown that can take two or more weeks to create, a CEREC crown uses Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) to make crowns with more precision and speed than ever. Because of this computer-aided technology, CEREC crowns feel and look like natural teeth, and they fit perfectly. In a matter of hours, you can enjoy a new and improved smile thanks to CEREC.
