Implants and Wisdom Teeth

Dental Implants

Losing a tooth can be upsetting. Ballina Coast Dental can provide a long-lasting solution for missing teeth. A dental implant is a tooth that is made to match and look like your natural teeth, and is a popular option for both health and cosmetic reasons.

A titanium fixture is placed in the location of your missing tooth. When your gum heals, a crown made to match your teeth is placed on the titanium root. Once the crown is in place it will restore your natural smile. The dental implant will also help your jaw maintain shape and structure, preventing future bone loss. Your implant will look and function like a normal tooth.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth sometimes do not have room to erupt and need to be removed. They can also cause swelling and infection. A partially erupted wisdom tooth can be hard to clean around, and might lead to a gum infection, or decay of the surrounding teeth.

If a wisdom tooth is causing you problems, your dentist may decide that it will need to come out. With the help of dental x-rays of your teeth or jaws (an OPG), your dentist may be able to tell that your wisdom tooth will need to come out before it causes problems, such as infection, crowding, or if it is growing in the wrong direction.

The dentists at Ballina Coast Dental are skilled at gently removing wisdom teeth. Discuss any discomfort you are having in your mouth with the dentists at Ballina Coast Dental.
